About SPEECH THERAPY with karina rendo

Speech therapy is the assessment and treatment of communication problems and speech disorders. Speech Therapy is performed by speech-language pathologists (SLP’s), often referred to as speech therapists.

Speech Therapy

In the field of speech and language pathology, treatments are often lengthy. Depending on the severity of the case, the times per week that the patient is called to the office are considered; Likewise, the patient is given practices to carry out during their daily life, in order to reinforce what they have learned during therapy. In the case of minors, parents or caregivers are instructed with language facilitation techniques to stimulate and improve children’s communication.

Speech therapy techniques are used to improve communication. These include articulation therapy, language intervention activities, and other practices activities depending on the type of speech or language disorder.

Speech therapy may be needed for speech disorders that develop in childhood or speech impairments in adults caused by an injury or illness, such as stroke or brain injury. There are several speech and language disorders that can be treated with speech therapy.
